About Corfu
Corfu is the largest island of the Ionian archipelago. This Mediterranean island is rich in multiple cultural influences and above all, breath-taking landscape.
Corfu Old Town, an UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a labyrinth of narrow streets known as the kantounia. Corfu Town, with its watercolours, has an air of Italy…the architectural buildings witness of Venetian and British domination.
Spianada is the name of the esplanade which lies between the old town and the old Venetian Citadel. On the western side of the Spianada lies the Liston, modelled on the rue de Rivoli in Paris .
Corfu has great tradition in music which flourished especially in the 18th and 19th centuries. The unique music traditions are seen at their best during the Greek Orthodox Easter. Corfu wouldn’t be the most popular Easter destination in Greece without its philharmonic orchestras, an inseparable part of the celebrations.
The area of Paloubi Estate
The west coast of Corfu is full of beautiful natural gems and has some of the best sandy beaches of the island.
Aghios Gordis is the closest beach from the estate. It is known for its beautiful sceneries and perfect blue waters. The beach is perfectly equipped with sunbeds and umbrellas and you will be able to do some watersports from there. Car parking can be quite a challenge especially if you go during the afternoon. As you go down to the beach, the last couple of kilometres are of great beauty as you need to get down the hill high overlook the bay in a very green scenery consisted by olive groves and cypresses.
Glyfada beach is without doubt the most famous Corfu beach (about 20 min driving distance). Almost a mile of sandy beach with crystal clear waters and lots of facilities. Glyfada streches along the foot of a pine-covered mountainside on the west coast. Some of the facilities on the beach are: beach volley, football, bars and restaurant, watersports, parties and even more…
Kontogyalos beach is the beach of Pelekas village located only 10 minutes driving distance from the estate. It is covered with fine, golden sand and it is surrounded by high hills, full of olive and pine trees. Its’ waters deepen smoothly and its sandy sea bed is suitable for having fun in the water. On the beach you will find many beach bars and restaurants.
Next to Kontogyalos, is Gialiskari beach. It is another beautiful beach of golden sand, with shallow clean waters and a fairly peaceful setting. You will find sunbeds and umbrellas to rent, but the size of the beach means that it soon gets crowded.
There are not many facilities on this beach, which makes the beach one of the most peaceful ones on the island and this adds to the charms of the location.
Paleokastritsa Bay is located about half an hour away (towards north) from the estate and consists of six bays with a mixture of sand and pebble beaches, crystal clear waters and very deep sea. Discover the coast line from the sea is absolute incredible. You will find caves and private small beaches accessible only by boat !
